Farewell to Barbara
|
|
It is with regret that we farewell Barbara Kowalski after many years with Maxus. With her extensive knowledge of Inmagic software Barbara has supported Inmagic users through the Maxus Help Desk, trained innumerable users in Text Works and Web Publisher Pro and assisted in setting up and optimising Inmagic systems since 2002. Barbara’s particular interest has been in the Heritage and Arts sectors. She has worked in cooperation with Museums, Historical Societies and Galleries to develop and support Maxus Collections and Maxus Artworks, now used extensively in Australia.
Barbara has moved on to new roles in heritage and archives, where she will continue to be an Inmagic user. We wish her well for the future as she applies her expertise in these positions. We will all miss her, however Victorian Museum users can expect to see her at User Group meetings in the future. Meanwhile Pam Millist is taking up the support role vacated by Barbara and will look forward to continuing Maxus support of Inmagic users in the Arts and Heritage sectors.
All the best Barbara!

Client News
|
|
It has been a busy period for Maxus clients in the Museums, Galleries and Archives space.
Congratulations to the Jewish Holocaust Museum for their MAGNA (Museums and Galleries National Award) 2011 win. These were the “the first ever National Awards for Australia’s museums and galleries”. More information at http://www.museumsaustralia.org.au/site/magna2011_winners.php)
The Cinema and Theatre Historical Society (CATHS) aims to record, in text and images, the history of cinema and theatre buildings across Australia and New Zealand. In conjunction with Prahran Mechanics Institute and the Australian Railway Historical Society, they applied for and received a Community Heritage Grant to enhance the indexing, retrieval and management of their collections using Inmagic TextWorks with Maxus Collections.
Also we noticed news that the Town Hall Gallery in Hawthorn is closed for renovation until 2014 and the Manningham Art Gallery is moving.

| Hints and Tips
Managing the number of textbase users
|
|
Did you know that Text Works can set a limit to the number of people allowed to open any textbase at one time? When you work on a network, this feature could be useful if you need to limit access to any one textbase for editing reasons.
However, conversely, you might find that the limit has been set to a number that is too small, and network users are not able to access the textbase simultaneously, even though it is not intended to be limited. In this case you would see a message like this:

For a master password user it is very easy to change this setting.
• Open the textbase in Text Works
• Go to Maintain > Edit Textbase Structure
• Look for the button labelled “Maximum Users…”
• Click the button and change the setting shown, click OK to save the change
• Click OK to exit the Edit Textbase Structure screen
Note: This setting is independent of the number of licensed users set for your software installation, which you can see when you click on Help – About DB/Text Works (not relevant to DB/Text Works for SQL)
